Emma Sweeney Agency
LLC is a small literary
agency based in New York
City. We specialize in general fiction, historical fiction and narrative nonfiction
projects including memoir, history, science and religion. We work with co-agents
in every territory, from the UK and Australia to Germany, Spain, France, Italy,
eastern Europe, and Asia, and make dozens of foreign rights sales (as well as
audio and first serial sales) for our clients every year.
Emma Sweeney is a member of the Association of Authors' Representatives and the Women's Media Group, where she served as president in 2003. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a BA in English Literature. Emma is also a writer whose own books include Tulipa (Artisan, 2000) and As Always, Jack (Little, Brown, 2002; Back Bay Books, 2003).
Eva Talmadge is an agent and rights manager with the Emma Sweeney Agency, supervising contracts and translation rights. She is a graduate of the University of Florida and the fiction MFA program at Hunter College, and is interested in literary fiction and narrative nonfiction including memoir, journalism, sociology, pop-culture, pop-science, and music-related projects.
Justine Wenger is a junior agent with the Emma Sweeney Agency. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing. In addition to working for Emma, Justine is poetry reader for BOMB Magazine, and routinely writes short stories or long poems on the subway.
